Honeysuckle Baskets by Midge Woizesko

More than a collection of places and paths, Gilmer county is a community- a collection of people.

To meet people in our community, start first at The Community Showcase, located at 115 East Main Street in Glenville. The county's official Visitor's Center, the Showcase highlights heritage crafts, made by Gilmer artisans. Featured pieces include hand-made glass items, honeysuckle baskets, and "rag rugs."

The Showcase is a hub for community people, groups and organizations. With four computers boasting broadband Internet service, a community event calendar, meeting and conference space, the Showcase is a real "hot spot" in the community.

Led by Family Resource Network Director, Donna Waddell, who is also a Certified Community Developer, those who gather at the Showcase often serve as a community "think tank." Not only does the Showcase serve as a visitor center and information center, it is also the place for coffee and conversation.
